JOHN CORKERY

John Corkery was born in Cork City in 1967 and developed a liking for art at a young age.  As a young man he earned a degree in chemical engineering, but after a number of years in the industry he made the decision to return to painting full time.  In 1993 he acquired his first artist studio at Pine Street Studios, by Cork Opera House and held his first solo exhibition shortly after.  Since that period John has had artist studios at Monard Glen and Backwater Artist Group, before finally settling at Outlaw Studios where he has worked for the past nine years.  John frequently takes part in artist retreats both in Ireland and abroad.  His main influences include Van Gogh, Juan Miro, Pablo Picasso as well as artists from the Renaissance period.
