UPCOMING EXHIBITION
The oldest cave paintings have much to teach us, and many a secret to share, but they confirm one thing beyond doubt: the relationship between artist and animal has been going on for a very long time. Animal Spirit proves that this relationship is ongoing, and that we recognize an inherent value in our fellow creatures.
Animals share this world with us, and artists are repeatedly drawn to their beauty, their personality and mystery; and subsequently have channelled their power, perseverance, and characteristics of stealth and cunning. Their existence alone makes our world a more colourful and magical place. Our exhibition portrays domestic creatures alongside those in the deepest wild. In some artworks the animal is used symbolically, or as a vehicle for the artist’s emotions.
Animal Spirit is a co-curated response between Market Gallery and artist Amber Broughton. Our selection features many new artists working across a range of media which includes painting, drawing, photography, mixed media, and wood burning.
Exhibiting artists for Animal Spirit include Amber Broughton, Cathal O’ Regan, David Twomey, Eilbhe Donovan, Emma Jacobs, Gemma Best, Gill Smyth, Helena Fitzgerald, Joe Bowser, Karen Downs, Maryna Chuhai, Millie Philippa, Nano Culliton, Niall O’Neill, Olivia O’Keeffe, and Susan Conneff.
CURRENT EXHIBITION
Market Gallery put out an open call to artists with the following words: From the Heart. Like our previous open calls, the responses were incredibly diverse as the theme took on a unique resonance for each artist. The submissions were as sincere as they were personal, and the selection here shows a true outpouring of emotion, longing, and wholehearted artistic love.
From the Heart touches on themes such as beauty, affection, love, hurt, and heartache. Our aim was to assemble something honest and meaningful, and we hope you can find something within our exhibition that speaks to the truth and knowledge in your own heart.
Exhibiting artists include: Claire O’Shea, Edel Ryder-Hanrahan, Eileen Jefferies, Emma O’Connor-Bray, Gill Good, Giulia Coli, Indhu, Jenna Pan Dolls, Jessica Rodrigues, Joseph Heffernan, Patricia Tomlinson, Sachiko Kobayashi, Sarah Murphy, Serge Le Belge, and Susan Conneff.
